SONIC SPEEDWAY RACE RECAP

Saturday night was full of action at the fast and furious Swan Hill Sonic Speedway, where the Australian Title will be held later in the season. The 500+ meter facility made for some excellent Compact Speedcar racing.
Heat 1 was a tricky track to pass on with all the cars going at the same speed. But The superstar from Shepparton, Louis Rodriguez, managed to storm home with the win from p5, followed by Butch Hutchinson and John Unwin.
Heat 2 saw much the same with Louis Rodriguez coming home in first Butch Hutchinson in 2nd and Mark Hutchinson in 3rd.
Heat 3 the track was at its fastest with the fastest lap of the night with a 17.920 set by heat winner Justin Paull, Tania Hallett in p2 and Louis Rodriguez hot on her heels in 3rd.
Final time came around which shaped up to be the race of the night. Unfortunately Butch Hutchinson had a incident in the first corner which saw the car go up and over. The race resumed and the action was hot, with Justin Paull and Louis Rodriguez trading the lead back and forth, until the two drivers touched ever so slightly and Paull spun which brought out the caution. The race restarted with 6 laps to go and Daniel James in his 2nd meeting in the class was doing a stella job in 2nd spot, meanwhile Tania Hallett was holding down the 3rd spot until she had a spin late in the race. Louis Rodriguez with a well deserved victory, followed with Justin Paull working his way back to p2 and a outstanding drive by Daniel James in 3rd.
Ann Clarke did a fantastic job in her first race out also.
We wish Butch Hutchinson a speedy recovery as he suffered a fractured T4 vertebrae in his accident
